This fall in Panama City Beach, the city's kids' fishing rodeo and the Thunder Beach Autumn Rally list the same street address in the same week. The address is 16200 Panama City Beach Parkway. That is Frank Brown Park, home to the Dog Park and the Youth Fishing Pond. It is also the official venue for a five-day motorcycle rally.
A few miles east, the land around Pier Park works the same way. Aaron Bessant Park and the Pier Park grounds host the city's own fall festival, Oktoberfest, IRONMAN Florida and the holiday tree lighting, one after another from late September through Thanksgiving weekend. Between now and the end of November, most of what happens in Panama City Beach happens in one of these two places. Whether a given Saturday works for a dog-friendly morning, a quiet errand run or a visit from out-of-town guests depends mostly on which park is booked.
Frank Brown Park Carries the Heaviest October
Sorted by venue, the Frank Brown Park schedule looks like this:
| Date | Event | Who it draws |
|---|---|---|
| Sat., Oct. 17, 9 a.m.–noon | Paws in the Park, at the Dog Park | City Parks and Recreation event |
| Wed., Oct. 21–Sun., Oct. 25 | Thunder Beach Autumn Rally, official rally venue | Regional rally crowd |
| Oct. 23 or 24, 9 a.m.–noon | Youth Fishing Rodeo, at the Youth Fishing Pond | City Parks and Recreation event |
| Thu., Nov. 12–Sat., Nov. 14 | Emerald Coast Cruizin' Car Show | Classic car show crowd |
Paws in the Park falls on the last open Saturday before the rally moves in. Four days later, Frank Brown's rally schedule opens on Wednesday, October 21, with a vendor village at 9 a.m., factory demo rides from Harley-Davidson, Indian and Can-Am between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., the free Iron & Chrome Collective "Museum on Wheels" exhibit, and live music running until 8 p.m. that first night with Kelly & The Healers. The same daytime pattern continues on Thursday, which adds a Ladies' Ride-In Bike Show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Cruizin' listing on Visit Panama City Beach names Frank Brown Park in its venue field, but its description points visitors to Aaron Bessant Park. Anyone planning around that weekend should confirm the location with the organizer at emeraldcoastcruizin.com before assuming one park or the other.
The Rodeo Lands Inside the Rally Window Either Way
The Youth Fishing Rodeo is the one resident event whose date doesn't match across sources. The city's October calendar lists it for Saturday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Youth Fishing Pond. A WJHG report from September 27 gives the date as October 23, a Friday.
For planning purposes, both dates fall within the October 21 to 25 rally, and both events use the same parkway address. A family heading to the pond with tackle boxes that morning will share the entrance with rally traffic. Confirm the rodeo date with Panama City Beach Parks and Recreation the week of the event, and allow extra time to get in.
Rally traffic also reaches beyond Frank Brown. Thunder Beach's official schedule lists a network of venues across the city:
- Harley-Davidson PCB, 14700 Panama City Beach Pkwy
- Crossroads, 15238 Front Beach Road
- Sharky's Beachfront, 15201 Front Beach Road
- McGuire's Irish Pub, 17290 Front Beach Road
- The Bike Rack, 12000 Front Beach Road
- Hammerhead Fred's, 8752 Thomas Drive
A venue list doesn't tell you which roads will close, but these addresses show where the traffic will be: the Panama City Beach Parkway corridor, a long stretch of Front Beach Road, and Thomas Drive. When PCB police spoke about the 2025 fall rally, they asked drivers to stay alert for heavier motorcycle traffic and for turning traffic near Harley-Davidson and the larger venues.
Pier Park and Aaron Bessant Park Rotate on a Weekly Cycle
The Pier Park side of town started its season before October. Panama City Beach Parks and Recreation held its annual fall festival and market at Aaron Bessant Park in late September, with more than 60 vendors, food trucks, live music, a kids' zone with first responders, a rock wall and face painting. Pets were welcome too. Recreation coordinator Vanessa Rogiano described it to WJHG as a free event that lets people "meet local vendors and see what's around the community."
From there, the Pier Park area books up almost weekly:
- Oct. 9–11: Pirates of the High Seas & Renaissance Fest at Pier Park, 600 Pier Park Drive.
- Oct. 16–18: Panama City Beach Oktoberfest at Aaron Bessant Park, with family and children's activities.
- Nov. 7–8: IRONMAN Florida, listed at Pier Park.
- Nov. 27–28: Beach Home for the Holidays at Aaron Bessant Park, starting the day after Thanksgiving, with concerts, s'mores, a tree lighting, Santa and children's activities. The detailed schedule was still marked "coming soon" as of this writing.
The Pirates weekend is also the weekend of the free 2nd Annual PCB Seafood Festival & Fishing Rodeo at Capt. Anderson's Marina, 5550 North Lagoon Drive. That festival runs October 9 through 11 with more than 80 local vendors and a children's zone. On that weekend, the choice is between Pier Park and the lagoon side, and the two are far enough apart to feel like different outings.
In August, Visit Panama City Beach's CEO told WJHG he expected crowds to last through fall break and into mid-October and named the Pirates festival as one of the draws. On the calendar, that means the two Pier Park weekends in mid-October lead straight into the rally week at Frank Brown.
IRONMAN Is the Weekend to Plan Around Early
Of everything on the fall calendar, IRONMAN Florida does the most to change how you get around town. The 2026 traffic plan had not been published as of early October. Last year's official plan is the best available guide to the pattern, but it is not a confirmed 2026 schedule. In 2025:
- South Pier Park Drive, between Front Beach Road and L.C. Hilton Jr. Drive, closed for close to a week before race day.
- Front Beach Road from West Park Drive to Powell Adams Road and West Park Drive from Front Beach Road to Pier Park Drive closed from 2 a.m. on race day until 4 a.m. the next morning.
- The run course brought delays to Front Beach Road, South Thomas Drive, Thomas Drive and Joan Avenue from late morning until close to midnight.
- The bike course ran inland on Highway 79, Highway 388, Highway 77, Highway 20 and Blue Springs Road, then came back by way of Griffin Boulevard and Panama City Beach Parkway near Camp Helen, with delays into the late afternoon.
The 2025 athlete guide placed IRONMAN Village at Aaron Bessant Park, 500 West Park Drive. The swim started at Russell-Fields Pier, 16201 Front Beach Road. If the 2026 race uses a similar layout, the park that hosted the fall festival in September will be closed to normal use the first weekend of November. Once the new plan is posted, it will settle questions like whether a Saturday-morning drive along Front Beach Road is possible.
The Parkway Between the Two Parks Is Moving Better
Driving between these two parks is easier than it was this time last year. In early July, FDOT opened all six lanes of Back Beach Road, also known as U.S. 98, between Mandy Lane and Nautilus Street. That first segment of a $169 million widening finished almost a year ahead of schedule. Segment two, from Nautilus Street to Richard Jackson Boulevard, is expected to be done in late 2027. Segment three, from Richard Jackson Boulevard to the Hathaway Bridge, broke ground the same week and is scheduled for late 2030. FDOT says temporary lane closures on the remaining work will be limited to 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., though traffic shifts and detours can still happen. That overnight window matters on event nights like the rally's first evening at Frank Brown, when the music runs until 8 p.m.
Several new places have opened along the parkway corridor. Panera Bread opened at 11846 Panama City Beach Parkway on June 18. The 30A Coffee Co. drive-thru at 20221 Panama City Beach Parkway, near Sunnyside, was open by mid-June. Big Mama's Coastal Country Cooking opened August 31 at 10071 Hutchison Boulevard. On Front Beach Road, Hooters at 12709 Front Beach Road closed on September 7 after 30 years in the community.
Taken together, the season reads more clearly by park than by month. October 17 is a resident morning at Frank Brown. October 21 through 25 belongs to the rally there, with the fishing rodeo inside that week. The Pier Park side changes hands almost every weekend until IRONMAN, then settles down until the tree lighting the day after Thanksgiving.
